Graduate Students Aviva Neff and Caroline Hill Receive Sallie Bingham Grants

Department of Theatre

3rd Year PhD Student Aviva Neff and 2nd Year MA Student Caroline Hill both received $2,000 Sallie Bingham Grants from History Matters/Back to the Future. These grants exist to support faculty-mentored student-directed reading series or full productions of a play or plays by a historic female playwright.

Neff and Hill are collaborating on an evening of readings of work by Georgia Douglas Johnson and Eulalie Spence under the collective title She, Too, Sings America as part of the Lab Series in October 2018. These readings will dovetail with the Carlyle Brown residency in the Department of Theatre, as well as the city-wide celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance, I, Too, Sing America: The Harlem Renaissance at 100.
