Commitment to Diversity

The College of Arts and Sciences at Ohio State prospers from the diversity and cultural richness of the world. Ours is an environment where diversity is an essential source of creative and scholarly endeavors and a defining characteristic of the community. Here, one may challenge the ideas of another while affirming the human dignity of all.

The university is committed to becoming a leader within the higher education community with regard to diversity and the creation of a campus culture of inclusion that creates a learning environment essential for educating students who will work and live in an increasingly diverse culture. To assist the university community with this commitment, the university has formed The University Senate Diversity Committee. Working to foster diversity in an environment of appreciation and respect for difference, the committee advises the President, University Senate, and Central Administration on policies it has reviewed. The Diversity Committee is composed of faculty, staff, students, and administrators, all of whom are committed to enhancing diversity at Ohio State.

The department's Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion puts out a newsletter each semester with information on DEI-related events and programming within the department and across campus.
