Often in our academic careers, as students, researchers, and artists, we develop our work within our own small disciplinary circles. This colloquium aims to provide an opportunity to share work—in whatever form it takes—across a wider academic and local community. Where do research, art, performance, and community intersect? What happens when scholars, artists, activists, and community organizers reach outside their home disciplines to collaborate, reach new audiences, and make meaningful connections? Where are there opportunities for our work to have impact beyond the university? How might we foster cross-disciplinary relationships for future collaborations?
We hope that “Bursting the Silos” can be a space for sharing research, artistic work, and community projects in a variety of formats. This might look like: a conference-style paper, a live performance, a staged reading, a gallery of visual art, a technological demonstration, leading a brief group activity or discussion.
Send proposals to Nicolas Shannon Savard by Sunday, February 3, 2019.
