Research Distinction

To obtain Research Distinction in Theatre, students must pursue a research project steeped in the discipline’s scholarly process during the final year of their theatre major. Applications are due two semesters in advance of graduation. This means that students who are interested in pursuing Research Distinction must plan ahead. Students must select one tenure-track faculty member to serve as their project advisor, as well as one secondary advisor. This advisor will provide guidance throughout the research process. Students must also complete a minimum of 4 hours (10 maximum) of 4999 research credit in the Department of Theatre. They must also write and successfully defend a thesis during a one-hour oral examination in their final term before graduation. More information on the Arts and Sciences website.
