Karie Miller

Karie is an actor, director, and artist-scholar originally from Central Kentucky. She received her BFA in Acting from Northern Kentucky University and her MFA in Acting from the University of Virginia. For her thesis at UVA ("Community Creates Character and Vice Versa"), she worked with Live Arts Theatre to devise A Comic Ballad of Misfortune with a company of teenagers, which toured locally. The piece also included audience-devised performance, and featured a sasquatch.

Prior to her time at Ohio State, she spent six years in Chicago, where she was a founding artistic associate with Sideshow Theatre Company, with whom she is still collaborates as an ensemble member. While in Chicago, she also had the pleasure of working with Genesis Ensemble, Steppenwolf, American Theatre Company, and The Ruckus, where she was also a company member. 

Karie's research interests include applied theatre, spectatorship, spectacle, play, civic engagement, and creative placemaking.
