PhD Candidate Yi-Ping Wu Awarded Research Scholarship

PhD candidate Yi-Ping Wu was awarded today a $5,000 Grant for Graduate Research and Scholarship from the Ohio State Graduate School to cover her travel expenses to several key sites (mostly archives and museums) in four countries: Korea, China, Taiwan, and Japan. Her dissertation is a pioneering interdisciplinary study on the "comfort women," i.e., 200,000 Korean, Chinese, and Taiwanese women who were treated as sex slaves by the imperial Japanese army during the Second World War. Her dissertation adviser is Professor Stratos Constantinidis.
