Four People centers on a family and their shared mediocrity. The Prozorov siblings are stuck in the countryside of Russia, out of place and out of time. If only…if only they could just get back to Russia, everything would work out. They’d finally arrive and be able to start their lives. If only it were that simple.

Four People takes as its inspiration Anton Chekhov’s The Three Sisters. Through Miller’s theoretical research, the piece has supplemented Chekhov’s realism with music, dance, movement, and clown. Five people perform twelve characters.

Karie Miller is a PhD candidate in the Theatre Graduate Program at The Ohio State University. Her dissertation, “Hospitality: A Framework for Engagement and Empathy”, explores how hospitality impacts the relationship between spectator and performer. This performance serves as a necessary component of the first Practice-as-Research dissertation undertaken in the Department of Theatre.

This event is free admission. First come, first served with general admission seating.
