The Ohio State University Department of Theatre is seeking applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Scenic and Lighting Design beginning August 2012. Responsibilities include: teach an average of three courses per semester in scenic design or lighting design at the undergraduate and graduate level; mentor and supervise student designers including hands-on work in the Scenic Studio and theatre.

 

Required qualifications: MFA in Theatre Design; three years teaching experience at the university level or professional equivalent; evidence of creative activity at academic institutions and professional theatres. Successful applicants will have demonstrated skills in Computer-Aided Design (including AutoCAD, VectorWorks, Photoshop, Sketch-up and 3D StudioMax), Scene Painting, Properties Construction, Lighting Technology, Multi-media Production and Collaboration. Experience in design for music theatre, opera and concert production is preferred. Design opportunities in our season will be offered when available.

 

Position: Visiting Assistant Professor, Nine-month, non-tenure track
