With OSU theater help, student awardwinner attends Italian festival

Thanks to funding from a donor account in Ohio State University's theater program, recent graduate Craig Pentak was able to attend the Palermo International Awards festival in Italy, where he won a 'Best Editing' award.

Pentak, who graduated from OSU with an undergraduate degree in film studies on December 13, grew up in Columbus, was in the OSU Honors Program and created a Personalized Study Program in film studies for his undergraduate degree.

Professor Janet Parrott, a recipient of the university's Distinguished Teaching Award, was his advisor in theater.

"The ceremony was really nice, they held it in a nice opera house, and a popular Italian TV personality was the host. It was a bit nerveracking because the entire thing was in Italian, but I don't think I bumbled around too much when I accepted the award (hopefully)," Pentak wrote Parrott in an email.

"Thanks for being my adviser on the project, and thanks for being my adviser all throughout college. Without your guidance I certainly would not have achieved as much as I did during my time at Ohio State," he wrote her.

Pentak's website covers his video projects, clients for whom he's shot video, including National Geographic, and other awards he's won. He is also a working editor at WOSU-TV, including when he was a full-time student.
