The Ohio State University Department of Theatre

The premiere production of Uncommon Clay was a complete collaboration among the designers, director, assistant director, and all of the performers. Some of the unique qualities of this production included the extensive use of moving lights in the lighting process and that the production process spanned a year of development.

Uncommon Clay is a new work about the sculptress Camille Claudel, presented with an actor ensemble which included various manifestations of Camille over the course of her tumultuous life, presented by six different actresses. The lighting design process involved a free exchange of ideas among production team members as well as the performers; all working together to create an ensemble.
