Alan Woods gave a paper (on the earliest surviving
American feature film, Frederick Warde’s 1912 Richard
III) at the Shakespeare Society of South Africa conference
in Grahamstown in June, and participated in a seminar at the American
Society for Theatre Research in November. His essay on Julie Taymor
appeared in a volume edited by Phyllis Dircks, American Puppetry.
Alan was dramaturg for CATCO’s Dirty Blonde. He’s
been active in an effort to save a 1927 neighborhood theatre in
Columbus, the Clinton Theater. More about that is at http://clintontheater.angelcities.com/clintonTheater.htm
A grant proposal has been funded through the Arts
& Humanities Multi-Disciplinary program that will help bring
internationally-acclaimed performance and conceptual artist Eleanor
Antin to campus to work with our students, and to begin the process
of documenting her work in the TRI.
