Mark Shanda was re-appointed by Chair Lesley Ferris to a two-year term as Associate Chair of the Department on July 1, 2003 with primary responsibilities in the areas of production management and season planning. In addition to his continuing duties as Associate Chair he kept himself busy serving as resident technical director for the season and production TD on both Pentecost and Candide. The double duty of both producing and technical directing Candide took a great deal of time and energy, so 2003-04 ended with a bang. Mark was also selected as one of six faculty from across campus to participate in the Provost's Emerging Faculty Leaders program. For the University, Mark chaired the Faculty Senate Rules Committee and for the College was a member of the Promotion and Tenure Committee. In addition to all of that, Mark found some time to spend with his daughters Ann (15) and Kay (9) as well as his wife Ginny. Their academic year was book-ended with trips to Iowa in both August and June to visit family and friends.
