Current Research and Creative Activity

Mark Shanda was appointed Associate Chair of the Department on July 1, 2001 with primary responsibilities in the areas of production management and season planning. In addition to his new duties as Associate Chair he kept himself busy serving as resident technical director for the season and production TD on Uncommon Clay. He continued his consulting work assisting the Columbus Children's Theatre, the Weathervane Playhouse of Akron, the Mansfield Playhouse, and the Bexley City Schools with their Cassingham Renovation Project. On campus he supervised the renovation of the new works lab and chaired the promotion and tenure committee. In spring quarter, Mark was on SRA writing, researching and taking on more household responsibilities with his daughters Ann (13) and Kay (7). Mark's wife Ginny served as the Executive Coordinator for the Committee on Local Arrangements for the 214th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA. This full time job for her for the year, changed many of the activities in the Shanda household. Also at the General Assembly, the Prague globe that had been built by OSU students for the PQ in 1999 was once again set up and used as a display structure. Mark also had the pleasure of serving as an external reviewer for the Theatre program at Utah State University.
