Bruce Hermann directed Spinning Into Butter during the summer of 2001 at Saint Michael's Playhouse in Burlington, Vermont; in fall 2001, he acted the part of Ross in the same play in a production done at CATCO here in Columbus. In January, Bruce directed Sue Ott Rowlands in a staged reading of Mercury Seven with Signs Following which Sue Ott Rowlands co-conceived with Mark Evans Bryan. He also enjoyed directing Division Street by Steve Tesich, in the Bowen Theatre this past winter quarter. In the spring quarter he acted the part of One in Porcelain, directed by Sue Ott Rowlands and performed in Mount Hall Studio. This summer Bruce will direct Anton in Show Business at the Red Herring Theatre in Columbus.
This winter Bruce will direct Oxygen, the creation of two of the world's most respected scientists and now acclaimed authors: Roald Hoffmann, winner of the 1981 Nobel Prize for Chemistry, and Carl Djerassi, 'father' of the pill. Oxygen will be performed in the Thurber Theatre at OSU. Bruce will also again helm this year's OSU Department of Theatre Outreach production of The Arkansas Bear, which will be performed throughout Central Ohio elementary and middle schools.
