A respected playwright and actor, Sam Shepard is a leader of the avant-garde in contemporary American theatre. His works are known for being frank and often absurd, and for having an authentic sense of the style and sensibility of the gritty modern American west blended with pop culture and science fiction.
Cowboy Mouth
Directed by Blair WingThe slapdash of the speeches and the spontaneousness of its two central characters, Slim and Cavale, make a shape that is a paw print of the universe; organic motion that is representative of the action of the physical mind, the mind of the author's body, and ultimately everyone's body.

Icarus’s Mother
Directed by Nicholas DekkerFive friends gather to have a picnic and witness a spectacle. They inhabit a stage-world in which everything has been made just a little strange. Shepard's nearly-but-not-quite-realistic settings and sometimes terse, sometimes effusive language come together in this play to expose and explode ideas about interpersonal relationships, gender, and community in America.
