In celebration of the Abbey Theatre’s 100th anniversary, the Theatre Research Institute is proud to present Ben Barnes, Artistic Director. Ben has held this position since the year 2000 and during this time he has focused on a stronger European and international dimension in the work of the Abbey and extended the platform for the development and presentation of new writing at Ireland’s national theatre. As well as almost fifty productions at the Abbey Ben has directed extensively in opera and his work has been seen throughout the world in cities such as New York, London, Tokyo, Moscow, Prague, Budapest, Athens, Barcelona, Adelaide, Perth, Wellington, Glasgow, Montreal and Kyoto. His lecture is co-sponsored by the Wexner Center for the Arts, the College of the Arts, OSU Libraries, and the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts.
