Theatre Major Fine Print

To graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from OSU, you need a minimum of 191 credits as described below:

• 63 credits covering all the requirements of the major program (excluding Theatre 100)
• 111 credits outside the Theatre Department, inclusive of all GEC requirements, Theatre 100, and university survey
• 17 additional credits from either inside or outside the department
• Of the 191 total credits, 60 credits must have been earned at the 300 level or above

GEC Fine Print

To complete the Arts and Sciences GEC, students take courses that have been approved for the GEC across the following 8 categories:

1. Writing and Related Skills, 3 courses (English 110 or 111, 2nd Level Writing, 3rd level Writing)

2. Qualitative/Logical Skills, 2-3 courses (Level R or Math 075/076, Math/Logic Analysis, Data Analysis)

3. Natural Sciences, 4 courses (must cover Physical and Biological with at least one 2-course sequence)

4. Social Sciences, 3 courses (must cover 2 of 3 subject areas, Individual/Groups, Organizations/Polities, Resources)

5. Arts and Humanities, 5 courses (2-course Historical Survey, Literature, Visual/Performing Arts, one other Humanities)

6. Diversity, double count with any other recognized diversity course in major or GEC

7. Foreign Language, equivalence of 4 courses in a particular language

8. Issues in the Contemporary World, 1 course
