Disciplining Interdisciplinarity, April 13-15, 2007
Disciplining Interdisciplinarity
a conference on performance between disciplines
featuring
the work of graduate students across the disciplines from
Northwestern University
The Ohio State University
and the University of Maryland-College Park
sponsored by
THE GRADUATE SYNDICATE of
THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE
COLUMBUS , OHIO
April 13-14, 2007
The goal of this conference is to gather together graduate students from three institutions for a lively examination of the state of the academic world we already inhabit and are beginning to shape. Particular interest will be on the ways in which “theatricality” and “performativity” have become essential tropes with which to conjure across the disciplines. Our hope is to forge cross-institutional relationships as we examine the cross-disciplinary work undertaken within each. That is: what does our widespread academic hybridity mean? And, what do we gain (or lose) by working across disciplines?
