Theater is a major form of human expression that occurs in every culture and society throughout all of human history. Theatre uses live actors on a real stage with artificial settings to tell a story that takes place in that present moment to an audience gathered into a defined space. Through characterization, actors present performances often focusing on some aspect of the human condition. Theatre performance is immediate and unique. Each performance is affected by audience reaction, their willing suspension of disbelief, and the artistic and technical quality of the production. By its very nature, theatre is a liberal art, synthesizing ideas, utilizing a variety of technical skills for the execution of production, and challenging foundational beliefs of all who view the work.
