Ph.D. student Katie Whitlock and Brenda Laurel (author of Computers as Theatre and Utopian Entrepreneur).
Ph.D. in Theatre Studies
Our Ph.D. degree is oriented to scholarly research in theatre history, criticism, theory, and dramatic literature. The degree requires a minimum of 90 graduate credits beyond the M.A. or M.F.A. degree, and culminates in the writing of a dissertation. In addition, students develop a supporting program in one area of production: acting, directing, design, or dramaturgy. We do not offer a film program, although a few cinema/video classes are offered in this and other departments.
