Katie Kimmel is an undergraduate theatre major, concentrating on costume design. She intends to graduate in spring 2007. She designed masks for OSU’s Two Planks and a Passion, and most recently designed costumes for Escuela Del Mundo. This summer, Katie participated in the London theatre program, where she interned in the costume shop of Mahogany Arts and as a photographer for the carnival research team. In March, she attended the USITT conference and expo in Louisville, Kentucky. There, she interviewed for summer internships, attended numerous workshops on costuming, and snagged free swag at the stage expo. This summer, Katie will be interning as a stitcher and dresser with the Utah Festival Opera. Next year, she plans on designing another OSU show as part of her senior distinction project, and in the future hopes to get her MFA in costume design.
